Been & Bound uses essential authentication cookies and session tokens so sign-in, account security, and private atlas access work. We do not add marketing or analytics cookies unless we first update the product and policies to explain that choice.

Public And Private Travel Data

Atlas entries, journeys, places, profile fields, and milestones follow the visibility settings saved in the product. Private notes, private journeys, and private Travel DNA settings are not intentionally shown on public pages.

Private Packing Lists And Optional Offline Copies

If the private Packing tool offers it and you choose it, a generic packing checklist may be saved only in this browser on this device. It is not shared, published, sent to a provider, or used for Journey completion. Avoid saving a copy on a shared device. You can remove it in Packing; Been & Bound also attempts to remove it when you sign out, switch accounts, lose Packing access, or delete your account. Browser data can be cleared separately through your browser's storage controls.

After you complete a Journey, you may optionally reflect on generic packing items (for example, used, unused, or forgotten). This private feedback stays with your Packing list and is not shared, published, sent to a provider, used for Journey completion, or included in the optional offline copy.

Private Arrival Cards

When enabled for a Journey, an Arrival Card stores only details you deliberately enter, such as an accommodation address, transport note, booking reference, emergency contact, official reminder, or private note. It is private to the Journey owner and is not included in public Journeys, Atlas, community features, exports, provider requests, analytics, or browser storage.

Do not add passport, document, birth-date, nationality, or visa details. Been & Bound rejects those categories. When the separately gated offline option is available, you can explicitly save only the selected Arrival Card details on this device after reviewing them. The copy is removable here and is purged on sign-out, account switch, access loss, or a browser-wide privacy purge; it remains read-only while you are offline.

Private Journey Reflections

After you complete a Journey, Been & Bound may offer one optional practical note for your own future reference. It stays private to your account and does not change the Journey's sharing, Atlas, travel history, exports, offline copies, or provider checks. Public publishing and community use are not available for this note.

Journey Place Search

An explicit Journey place search sends only your search text and optional geographic bias or country filter to Geoapify. Account identity, private notes, recommendations, and Travel DNA are not included. Selected place details and required attribution are saved so ordinary Journey reads do not contact the provider again.

Journey Maps

Journey maps load styles and tiles from OpenFreeMap. The provider and its delivery network receive normal web-request information and tile identifiers that reveal the displayed map area. Saved place names, notes, visibility, account identity, and email are not uploaded as a map dataset. The complete itinerary remains available if the map cannot load.

Email And OAuth Data

Credentials accounts use email verification and password reset emails. OAuth accounts use provider identity data needed to sign you in, link your account, and keep the account from being taken over through an unverified email.
